Bathroom Styling

When we set out to begin designing our bathroom, I knew I wanted something that felt classic and a bit masculine with a hint of romance. We’ve used travertine tile throughout a number of spaces in our home because it is so durable and timeless and neutral enough to make it through my eventual overhaul! That being said, this is one of the few spaces I’ve touched in the years because I’ve not yet tired of how it feels. Check out the before (bad pictures, I know, and also during demo but it’s all I’ve got). It was a mix of original 1950’s with a touch of 1980’s updates.

We actually ended up breaking out a the wall between this room and the neighboring bedroom. There was an odd cubby in the middle of that room, perhaps to shove a dresser into? We ended up reallocating that space as well as the original closet space to make room for a new standing shower and soaking tub.

Honestly the tile was kinda cute and I was tempted to try to work around it but it really didn’t mix with the overall vibe I was trying to create. Not to mention that I’m a bath person, and well, this bathtub was too shallow and pretty gross. The copper soaking tub was an huge upgrade and one of the only splurges we’ve really added to our home and I can say it was worth every copper penny!

In the end, I really love how everything turned out. It’s the perfect mix of masculine with enough feminine additions and accommodates my husband that prefers to shower and myself that loves a good soak. Here are a few more of the finishing touches:
