Nursery
Howdy folks! Our little babe is two years old already and I can’t believe how fast that time has flown! It has been so much fun watching her little personality develop and to see her become so independent and quite a little sassy pants! I frequently find myself cruisin’ down memory lane and thought I’d share with you her nursery and how it came to be.
Here’s a quick before and after:
When we first moved into our home we knew we would have children but we had no idea when, or where we would put them. The most logical place to have her nursery was in the second bedroom on our main floor next to our bedroom with the bathroom in between us. Until we found out we were pregnant, that room had been strictly storage and still housed several items that hadn’t found a home yet. We had started working on that room shortly after our bathroom remodel (if you missed that, check it out here) and still needed to drywall the new wall where we removed the unused cubby and closet. The plan had been to make it a craft room for me and we had just finished the drywall and painting when we found out we were pregnant! My mind shifted immediately from craft room to nursery! Luckily, I had wanted a bright and colorful craft room so a lot of the things I had already started working on were perfect for a nursery as well!
Here is the room just after we started construction with progress towards a craft room:
Just after adding a few details. I purchased pillows and some accessories from Home Goods and a few other stores, painted the blue dresser from the pictures above a bright fuchsia, and added a new rug.
And here it is just before Lola was born. We ended up keeping a lot of the accessories and added from there.
Ammon built the window valance box and added the Greek Key detail. Then I added some crepe paper flowers to playfully peek out from underneath.
I really wanted this room to be bright and cheerful for our sweet little girl, but I also didn’t want to get stuck in a theme that wouldn’t be easy to transition from if we added another kiddo or for when Lola needs a ‘Big Girl’ room.
What do you think? I think it was quite the transformation and it is now one of my favorite rooms to hangout in at home. I especially like the company
